World Baseball Classic

The tourney started yesterday in Asia, and Team USA plays its first game on Tuesday the 7th. My question is, does anybody really care about this thing? It doesn't seem like it to me.
I think they messed up by scheduling it in March, during Spring Training. A lot of big-name guys aren't playing because it's so close to the start of the season. It would have been better to schedule it in December-January, IMO. That puts it right in the middle of the off-season, where the guys can rest for a couple months before it and then a couple months after it. Just a thought.

I'll watch it because it's baseball. It won't keep me from keeping track of the Reds Spring Training progress, but I'll still watch it. Once the NCAA tourny starts, then I'll be watching that, but will watch the games that are aired during times that I can watch. Its hard to watch the Asian games when they are so early/late in the morning.

US plays Tuesday at 4. I'll be watching!

who is pitching the 1st game for the usa

I read on mlb.com today that Jake Peavy was the Game 1 starter. I believe that Dontrelle Willis is scheduled for Game 2 and then Clemens for Game 3.
